Bank of Singapore is the private banking arm of OCBC Bank and one of the fastest growing banks in Asia. The Bank is a user of Temenos Core Banking and WealthSuite solutions and issued an RFP earlier this year as they were in the need for developing an integrated automation test solution to reduce the current manual effort and cost spent in testing and support their transformation initiative.
Bank of Singapore’s DevOps journey from Waterfall to Continuous Delivery included many challenges and the lack of a fully automated testing tool prevented them from completing it. The lack of test automation means that the organisation is not able to deliver quality-assured versions of apps or new products on a rapid basis.
To reap the full benefits of digitization, Bank of Singapore decided to focus on automation and chose Validata as their strategic partner for DevOps and QA to create new efficiencies, reduce maintenance costs, and achieve agility at scale. Validata’s digital test automation platform is being used for the upgrade from Temenos R13 Desktop to latest release in Browser, as well as WealthSuite, Apollo Mobile Banking, Apollo Internet Banking, SWIFT and PDF Testing and a set of other interfaces including: MarginMan, FinIQ, ODP, DWS / DWSPB, Reporting DB, Microsoft CRM, Pega, PDF statements and CPOMS.
Within 8 months, the Bank was able to reduce dramatically the number of test cases and cut testing effort and execution times while reaching automation levels of 80%. A regression test pack of 1400 test cases across different applications, executing End-to-End business processes is now available for continuous monitoring and regression. These tests can be run 24/7 to ensure that all core functionality is being monitored at all times, and turning regression testing into a simple daily automated task.
