If you were a big bank, there couldn’t be a worst time for your IT system to crash than now.
The RBS glitch is not alone, Banking giants, HSBC faced a similar problem in 2012; RIM had to offer $100 application voucher sweetener to customers who had endured a 3-day network outage while Dixons website crashed for 48 hours over the 2010 holiday period; O2 network crashed leaving hundreds of thousands of customers without voice and data connections.
So what happened?
The error was caused as a result of the upgrade, Vansen Bourne’s April 2012 survey suggests that this is in fact an industry problem that many banks face while tackling complex migration projects.
